Before a single NFT could sell, The Villagers needed an audience. Every post, reply, and campaign on @villagers_nft came from one person — the same one drawing the art.

Growing an Audience From Zero

To grow my fanbase and create a community around The Villagers art, I posted frequently on X and gained a small following. I made pixel portraits of people and gave them away for free, joined group chats, and chimed in on timely topics. Over a few months my audience grew and people began to recognize my art. After that, it was time to launch the NFT project — and that's where the real marketing efforts came in. This is the journey, step by step.

Step 1 — Announcement

We officially introduced the project and explained why people would want to participate in our NFT mint — sharing our background and our plans for the future.

Step 2 — Character Intros

We introduced each character and its pixel art in a daily drip of new content.

Step 3 — NFT Mint

We promoted the NFT mint to our audience and then conducted the mint over several days.

Step 4 — Community Building

We worked hard to nurture and grow our new community of NFT art holders.

Step 5 — Promote the Art

We encouraged our new fanbase to celebrate their NFTs and the pixel art.

Step 6 — Villagers Madness

We created a promotional campaign based on the popular "March Madness" theme and got lots of engagement from our audience.

Step 7 — Villagers Figurines & Merch

We promoted The Villagers by working with community members to create figurines and merchandise depicting the characters.

Step 8 — Villagers Game

We launched The Villagers Game, in which NFT holders can scratch daily lotto tickets to earn points and win rewards.

Step 9 — Introducing Aliens

We introduced a new type of character (aliens) and generated excitement among our NFT holders.

Step 10 — Introducing Monsters & Rares

We added more rare characters to The Village, including scary monsters with new pixel art!

Step 11 — Polls, Giveaways & Spaces

We held giveaways, ran polls, and conducted Spaces on X.com to generate more attention and interest in The Villagers.

Step 12 — Game Sponsors

We partnered with other companies and projects who wanted to sponsor The Villagers game and give our NFT holders more prizes and rewards.

Step 13 — Rare Mint

We conducted a rare mint to distribute the rare characters to our existing NFT holders and new community members.
