One artist.
One pixel at a time.
4,592 Villagers.
/* sole artist & sole marketer */I created, wrote, and marketed The Villagers — a pixel-art world of over 100 hand-drawn characters with its own story, website, and game. Meet some of the cast below.
I drew the villagers
In January 2024 I picked a 16×16 pixel canvas because I wanted low-fi, whimsical characters — and I kept making new ones until I had a whole village full of them.

I wrote the story
The Village needed a history, so I gave it one — a family-friendly tale that children and parents could read together, starring The Child.

I launched the collection
From zero followers on X to a live mint — every post, every reply, and every piece of marketing came from the same hands that drew the art.

I built the website & game
villagers.cc and the playable Village give the world a home — fans browse the art, read the story, and play with the characters.

I grew a community
As the de facto community manager for The Villagers, I spent several hours per day talking to our community members and running events and giveaways for them.

I created a product
I turned the art and the story into a compelling educational product for school-aged children, to help them learn math, reading, and pixel art.
